Ingredients
Jello Layer
- 6 oz Strawberry Jello
- 2 cups Boiling water
- 1 lb Strawberries, sliced
Pretzel Crust
- 2 cups Pretzels, crushed
- ¼ cup Sugar
- 8 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
Cream Cheese Layer
- 8 oz Cream Cheese, softened
- ½ cup Sugar
- 8 oz Whipped Topping, thawed
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the pretzel crust.
- Dissolve Jello: In a medium bowl, combine the strawberry Jello powder and 2 cups of boiling water. Stir thoroughly until the Jello powder is completely dissolved. Set aside and allow to cool to room temperature.
- Prepare pretzel crust mixture: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Stir in ¼ cup sugar until combined. Then add the crushed pretzels and mix evenly to coat the pretzels in the butter-sugar mixture.
- Press crust in pan: Transfer the pretzel mixture to a 9×13-inch baking pan. Use a fork or spatula to press the mixture firmly and evenly across the bottom of the pan, creating a crust layer.
- Bake crust: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes. Remove from oven and allow the crust to cool completely to room temperature.
- Make cream cheese layer: In a mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to combine the softened cream cheese with ½ cup sugar until smooth and fully blended. Then gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until fully incorporated.
- Spread cream cheese layer: Evenly spread the cream cheese and whipped topping mixture over the cooled pretzel crust, covering the entire surface.
- Chill for setting: Refrigerate the pan for about 30 minutes to help the cream cheese layer firm up slightly.
- Add strawberries to Jello: Fold the sliced strawberries into the room temperature Jello mixture, distributing the fruit evenly throughout.
- Pour Jello layer: Carefully pour the strawberry Jello and strawberry mixture over the cream cheese layer, spreading evenly across the surface.
- Final chilling: Refrigerate the entire dessert for 2 to 3 hours, or until the Jello layer is fully set.
- Serve: Once set, slice into portions and serve chilled. Enjoy the delightful combination of salty, sweet, and creamy flavors!
