This creamy charred scallion and chili crisp dip blends smoky grilled scallions with rich cream cheese, tangy sour cream, and a swirl of spicy chili crisp for a bold, crowd-pleasing appetizer that comes together in minutes.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 6 whole scallions
- 3 tablespoons chili crisp
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Instructions
- Heat the skillet: Place a skillet over medium heat and allow it to warm up to prepare for charring the scallions.
- Prepare the cream base: In a mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese and sour cream until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Char the scallions: Add olive oil to the hot skillet. Place the whole scallions in the skillet and cook them, turning occasionally, until they become charred and softened. Remove them from heat and let cool slightly.
- Chop scallions: Once cooled, finely chop the charred scallions to incorporate into the dip.
- Combine ingredients: Fold the chopped scallions, minced garlic, chili crisp, and salt into the cream cheese and sour cream mixture until evenly combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning: Taste the dip and adjust salt or chili crisp amounts as preferred for seasoning and spice level.
- Serve: Swirl a little extra chili crisp on top of the dip before serving. You may serve immediately or chill the dip for 30 minutes to deepen the flavors.
Notes
- Let the dip rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes for enhanced flavor.
- Do not burn the scallions, as bitterness will affect the final taste.
- Adjust the amount of chili crisp to control spice level.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
