Ingredients
Whipped Shortbread Cookies:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup confectioners’ sugar
Toppings:
- 5 red maraschino cherries, quartered, or as needed
- 5 green maraschino cherries, quartered, or as needed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Heat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Mix the dough: In a large bowl, beat flour, softened butter, and confectioners’ sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, for about 10 minutes.
- Form the cookies: Spoon dollops of dough 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Place a quarter of a red or green maraschino cherry in the middle of each cookie.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven until the cookies are light brown on the bottom, for 15 to 17 minutes.
- Cool and enjoy: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
