Description

These baked turkey sliders feature melted Swiss or Havarti cheese and tender oven-roasted turkey layered on soft Hawaiian rolls, all smothered in a rich buttery mustard and onion sauce. Perfectly baked to warm, gooey perfection, they make an ideal game day snack or crowd-pleasing party appetizer ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Sliders

  • ½ pound sliced oven roasted turkey
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 10 slices Swiss or Havarti cheese

Sauce

  • ¾ cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Everything bagel seasoning, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare rolls: Slice the entire pack of Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping the top halves and bottom halves intact as separate sections.
  3. Assemble sliders: Place the bottom halves of the rolls evenly in the prepared baking dish. Layer the oven-roasted turkey evenly over the bottoms, then add two thin layers of cheese with turkey in between. Cover with the top halves of the rolls.
  4. Make sauce: In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter. Whisk in Dijon mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, dried minced onion, and salt until thoroughly combined.
  5. Pour sauce and season: Evenly pour the prepared buttery mustard and onion sauce over the assembled sliders. Optionally, sprinkle the tops with everything bagel seasoning.
  6. Bake sliders: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 14 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and sliders are heated through.
  7. Finish baking: Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 3 minutes to lightly brown the tops. Serve these warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Using Hawaiian rolls gives the sliders a sweet, soft texture that complements the savory turkey and cheese.
  • Swiss or Havarti cheese works best for melting and flavor, but you can substitute with other mild melting cheeses if desired.
  • Dried minced onion adds an appealing texture and flavor that fresh onion cannot replicate here.
  • Everything bagel seasoning is optional but adds a nice crunchy, salty finish.
  • These sliders are best served fresh and warm right out of the oven.
