Homemade Smash Burgers are juicy burgers that are smashed down onto a hot cast iron frying pan to deliver deliciously caramelized burgers! These easy-to-make burgers are ready to be introduced to your taste buds in just 35 minutes!
Ingredients
Ground Beef Patties:
- 2 pounds ground beef 80/20 preferred
Buttered Buns:
- ¼ cup salted butter melted
- 4 hamburger buns
Seasoning:
- 2 tablespoons seasoning salt
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
Additional Toppings:
- 8 slices cheese
- sliced tomatoes for serving
- sliced red onions for serving
- shredded lettuce for serving
- dill pickles for serving
Instructions
- Shape the Patties: Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
- Prepare the Buns: Butter and toast the buns.
- Smash and Season: Press the meat balls into thin patties, season, and cook for 2-4 minutes on each side.
- Add Cheese: Add a slice of cheese to each patty as you remove from the grill.
- Assemble: Place the patties on the buns and add desired toppings.
Notes
- Do not mix seasonings into the meat to avoid overworking it.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 4 months.
- Can be cooked in a heavy-bottomed skillet or frying pan if a cast-iron skillet is not available.
