This Shrimp Casserole features creamy, cheesy shrimp baked under a crisp, buttery breadcrumb topping. It’s a simple and delicious dish that can be quickly prepared, making it ideal for both weeknight dinners and special occasions.
Ingredients
For the Shrimp:
- 2 lbs large shrimp, 21-24 count, peeled and deveined
- 1 Tbsp Old Bay Seasoning
- 1 Tbsp salt for the cooking water
For the Casserole:
- 2/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 Tbsp butter, plus more for greasing the pan
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 4 oz shredded mozzarella
- 4 oz shredded medium cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish or skillet with butter.
- Cook Shrimp: Boil water with salt and Old Bay Seasoning. Cook shrimp for 30 seconds until opaque. Drain and cool.
- Prepare Shrimp Mixture: Combine shrimp with mayo, garlic powder, pepper, and cheese. Transfer to casserole dish.
- Make Breadcrumb Topping: Melt butter, mix with breadcrumbs, and sprinkle over shrimp.
- Bake: Bake at 375°F for 13-15 minutes, then broil for 1-2 minutes until golden. Rest for 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- If excess liquid is present, soak it up with a paper towel after baking.
- Use a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish or a deep 10-inch skillet for baking.
- You can prepare the casserole in advance and refrigerate for up to 3 days before baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days and reheated in the oven or air fryer.
