Description

This decadent dessert features a rich chocolate cake base topped with a gooey peanut butter and cream cheese filling, finished with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Perfect for peanut butter and chocolate lovers!

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (for base)
  • 1 large egg (for base)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (for filling)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the chocolate cake mix, 1/2 cup melted butter, and 1 egg until a thick batter forms. Press this evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and peanut butter until smooth.
  4. Gradually add in the eggs, vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup melted butter, mixing until well combined.
  5. Slowly mix in the powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Spread the peanut butter mixture evenly over the chocolate cake base.
  7. Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until edges are firm but the center is still slightly gooey.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan. The center will firm slightly as it cools.
  9. Cut into squares and serve at room temperature or chilled.

Notes

  • Do not overbake; the center should remain gooey.
  • Use room temperature cream cheese for easier blending.
  • Try topping with a drizzle of melted chocolate or crushed peanuts for extra flair.
