Ingredients

Chicken:

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup (60g) cornstarch

Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) orange juice (freshly squeezed is best)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)


Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Fry the Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet, fry chicken until golden brown.
  3. Make the Sauce: Whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and orange zest.
  4. Thicken the Sauce: Mix cornstarch with water, stir into the sauce until thickened.
  5. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Toss chicken in the sauce until coated.
