Ingredients

Whole Wheat or Gluten-Free Pasta:

8 oz

Olive Oil:

2 tablespoons

Garlic (minced):

2 cloves

Broccoli Florets:

4 cups

Lemon Zest:

1 teaspoon

Lemon Juice:

1 tablespoon

Salt and Pepper:

to taste

Red Pepper Flakes (optional):

¼ teaspoon

Grated Parmesan Cheese (optional):

1/4 cup

Fresh Basil or Parsley (for garnish):

chopped


Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions, adding broccoli in the last 2-3 minutes. Drain, reserving a cup of pasta water.
  2. Prepare the sauce: Sauté garlic in olive oil until fragrant.
  3. Combine pasta, broccoli, and sauce: Toss cooked pasta and broccoli with garlic in skillet. Add lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add reserved pasta water if needed.
  4. Serve: Transfer to serving bowls, top with Parmesan, basil or parsley.
