Description

Festive Cherry Bombs are a fun, colorful, and easy-to-make holiday treat featuring maraschino cherries dipped in chocolate and coated with festive toppings. Perfect for parties, gifting, or family activities.

Ingredients

  • 24 maraschino cherries with stems, drained and patted dry
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or white chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or shortening (optional, for smoother chocolate coating)
  • Sprinkles, crushed nuts, or shredded coconut (for decorating)
  • Optional: a few drops of vanilla or almond extract

Instructions

  1. Drain the maraschino cherries thoroughly and pat them dry using paper towels.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth.
  3. If desired, add coconut oil or shortening to the melted chocolate to thin it out.
  4. Stir in a few drops of vanilla or almond extract if using.
  5. Dip each cherry into the melted chocolate, covering most of the cherry while leaving the stem exposed.
  6. Immediately sprinkle or roll the dipped cherry in your choice of toppings: sprinkles, coconut, or crushed nuts.
  7. Place the coated cherries on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Refrigerate the tray for 15–20 minutes or until the chocolate is fully set.
  9. Serve chilled or at room temperature on a decorative platter.

Notes

  • Make sure cherries are completely dry to avoid chocolate seizing.
  • You can prepare these up to 5 days in advance.
  • For a vegan version, use dairy-free chocolate and coconut oil.
  • Try double dipping for a two-tone effect after the first layer sets.
  • Freeze for up to one month if needed—thaw in the fridge before serving.
