Description

Crispy, cheesy, and bursting with bold taco flavor, these Easy Taco Cups are a fun and fuss-free way to enjoy your favorite taco night—without the mess. Made with wonton wrappers or tortillas pressed into muffin tins, each cup is filled with seasoned beef, melty cheese, and your favorite toppings. Great for parties, snacks, weeknight dinners, or kid-friendly meals, these taco cups are handheld bites of Tex-Mex joy.

Ingredients

Wonton Wrappers or Tortillas:

  • 12 wonton wrappers or 6 small flour tortillas (cut into quarters)

Ground Beef:

  • 1 lb ground beef

Taco Seasoning:

  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 1 tbsp homemade mix)

Water:

  • ½ cup water

Cheddar Cheese:

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)

Black Beans (optional):

  • ½ cup canned black beans, drained

Corn Kernels (optional):

  • ½ cup corn kernels

Toppings:

  • Chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, jalapeños, salsa
  • Fresh cilantro and lime wedges (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease, then stir in taco seasoning and ½ cup water. Simmer for 4–5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat.
  2. Prepare the Muffin Tin: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin with cooking spray or oil.
  3. Layer the Taco Cups: Place one wonton wrapper or tortilla piece into each muffin cup, pressing gently to fit the shape. Add a spoonful of seasoned beef to each. Top with black beans and corn if using. Sprinkle shredded cheese over each cup.
  4. Bake: Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool for 5 minutes before removing from the tin.
  5. Add Toppings and Serve: Top each taco cup with your favorite toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, or guacamole. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with lime wedges.

Notes

  • Use Wonton Wrappers – They crisp up beautifully and fit perfectly in muffin tins
  • Go Meatless – Substitute seasoned beans or plant-based crumbles for a vegetarian option
  • Prep Ahead – Make the beef filling in advance for even faster assembly
  • Don’t Overfill – Leave space at the top to avoid overflow while baking
  • Customize the Toppings – Let everyone build their own for a taco bar-style dinner
