Description

This crockpot orange chicken recipe delivers tender chicken smothered in a flavorful orange sauce cooked to perfection in a slow cooker.


Ingredients

Chicken:

  • pounds chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces

Orange Sauce:

  • ½ cup orange marmalade
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger or ½ teaspoon dried ginger
  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Garnish:

  • White sesame seeds (optional)
  • Chopped green onion (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add Chicken: Place chicken pieces in the crockpot.
  2. Prepare Sauce: In a bowl, combine orange marmalade, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Pour over the chicken.
  3. Cook: Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.
  4. Thicken Sauce: Mix water and cornstarch, add to the crockpot in the last 10 minutes of cooking to thicken the sauce.
  5. Serve: Serve over rice, garnish with sesame seeds and green onion.

Notes

  • If you prefer extra spice, add ½ teaspoon more red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Don’t forget to spoon out any remaining sauce from the slow cooker to drizzle over the chicken and rice.
