Ingredients
Chicken:
- 1½ pounds chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
Orange Sauce:
- ½ cup orange marmalade
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger or ½ teaspoon dried ginger
- ¼ to ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Thickening Mixture:
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Garnish:
- White sesame seeds (optional)
- Chopped green onion (optional)
Instructions
- Add Chicken: Place chicken pieces in the crockpot.
- Prepare Orange Sauce: In a bowl, mix orange marmalade, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Pour over the chicken.
- Cook: Cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2 hours.
- Thicken Sauce: Mix water and cornstarch, then pour into the crockpot during the last 10 minutes of cooking. Stir until the sauce thickens.
- Serve: Serve the chicken over rice, garnished with white sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
- If you prefer extra spice, add ½ teaspoon more red pepper flakes for heat without overpowering the other flavors.
- Don’t forget to spoon out any remaining sauce in the slow cooker to drizzle over the chicken and rice for extra flavor!
