Description

This Crock Pot Roast recipe is a hearty and comforting meal that is perfect for family dinners or special occasions. The chuck roast is seasoned to perfection and slow-cooked with tender vegetables, creating a delicious gravy that ties everything together. Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 3-4 lb. Chuck Roast
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon EACH: salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Gravy:

  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 beef bouillon cube (or 1 tsp better than bouillon)
  • 1 ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon low sodium soy sauce

Veggies:

  • 2 ¼ lbs. baby potatoes
  • 2 lbs. whole carrots (cut into halves or thirds)

Gravy Thickener:

  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch + 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 2-3 drops Kitchen Bouquet browning and seasoning sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cold unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Roast: Pat roast dry. Season and coat with flour.
  2. Sear the Roast: Sear in a pan until browned. Set aside.
  3. Prepare Gravy: Whisk gravy ingredients in the pan. Transfer to slow cooker with roast.
  4. Prepare Vegetables: Cut potatoes, peel and slice carrots.
  5. Cook: Place vegetables around roast in the slow cooker. Cook on high for 5-6 hours or low for 8-10 hours.
  6. Make Gravy: Thicken juices in a saucepan with cornstarch. Add Kitchen Bouquet and butter.
  7. Serve: Season vegetables, slice roast, and serve with gravy.
