Description

This crispy chilli chicken recipe replicates the flavors of Chinese takeaway at home. Tender chicken strips are coated in a flavorful marinade, fried to crispy perfection, and tossed in a sweet and spicy stir-fry sauce. A garnish of fresh spring onions adds a pop of color and freshness to this delicious dish.


Ingredients

Chicken Marinade:

  • 300 g Chicken Breast
  • 2 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Garlic And Ginger Paste
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp White Pepper

Stir Fry Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
  • 4 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice

Other Ingredients:

  • 100 g Cornflour (Add More If Needed)
  • 1 Egg White
  • 2 Spring Onions
  • Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken breast into thin strips.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Combine chicken with marinade ingredients and let it rest.
  3. Prepare Stir Fry Sauce: Mix honey, lemon juice, soy sauce, and sriracha in a bowl.
  4. Coat Chicken: Mix egg white and cornflour with chicken until coated.
  5. Fry Chicken: Fry coated chicken until crispy.
  6. Make Stir Fry: Sauté garlic and ginger, add stir-fry sauce, thicken.
  7. Combine: Toss crispy chicken in sauce, add spring onions, and serve.

Notes

  • If cornflour clumps, coat chicken pieces individually.
  • Baking option: Bake at 200°C for 20 minutes for a less crispy version.
