- 5 large garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- fine sea salt and freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
Additional:
- 1 ounce freshly-grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 handfuls fresh baby spinach
- 1/2 cup loosely-packed chopped fresh basil
- zest and juice of 1 small lemon (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the water for the orzo: Bring a large saucepan of salted water to a boil.
- Brown the mushrooms: Sauté mushrooms in butter until browned; set aside.
- Cook the orzo: Boil orzo until slightly undercooked.
- Sauté the veggies: Cook shallot, garlic, and red pepper flakes in butter.
- Combine: Add cooked mushrooms, heavy cream, salt, and pepper to the pan with orzo.
