Ingredients
Dough:
- 2 cups scalded milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 1/2 tsp instant yeast
- 6-8 cups flour
Filling:
- Nutella
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: Scald the milk, then add the sugar, butter, salt, and water. Let the mixture cool, then add the eggs, yeast, and flour.
- Kneading and Rising: Knead the dough or use a bread maker on the dough setting. If kneading by hand, knead and let rise for 2 hours.
- Shaping: Punch down the dough, roll it out to 1/4″ thickness, and cut into rounds. Let them rise for 45 minutes.
- Frying: Heat oil to 375 degrees F, fry the doughnuts until golden brown on each side (1-3 minutes per side), then drain on a baking rack.
- Filling: Fill a piping bag with Nutella and pipe 1-2 tablespoons into each doughnut.
- Serving: Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar.
