  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground all spice
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 100 g dark brown sugar
  • 200 g apples grated
  • 110 g vegetable oil, room temperature
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 140 g sour cream 14-18%, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

CARAMEL BUTTERCREAM

  • 100 g butter, room temperature
  • 165 g powdered sugar
  • 23 teaspoon caramel
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. SALTED CARAMEL – In a medium-sized saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water, melt until golden brown. Stir in butter, then heavy cream and salt. Transfer to a bowl and let cool.
  2. APPLE CAKE – Preheat oven, prepare pan, mix dry ingredients, combine wet ingredients, fold in grated apples, bake, cool.
  3. CARAMEL BUTTERCREAM – Sift powdered sugar, mix butter, add powdered sugar, caramel, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  4. ASSEMBLING – Place cooled cake on a dish, spread buttercream, swirl in caramel.
