Description

This Amish-inspired hamburger steak bake is classic comfort food — juicy seasoned beef patties browned to perfection, then baked in a savory mushroom sauce. It’s an easy, hearty family meal everyone will love.

Ingredients

For the Beef Patties:

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

For the Mushroom Sauce:

  • 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup (1 can)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until well combined.

  3. Shape the mixture into 4–6 patties, depending on your preferred size.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the patties on both sides, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  5. Transfer the browned patties to a baking dish.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup and beef broth until smooth. Pour this mixture over the patties in the baking dish.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the sauce is bubbly.
  8. Serve hot with your choice of sides.

Notes
